Dippenaar announces retirement from cricket

Dippenaar announces retirement from cricket Cape Town, Feb 10 : South African batsman Boeta Dippenaar has announced his retirement from the game, and will play his last first class cricket match in the SuperSport Series clash with Warriors in Port Elizabeth.

"There''s a time and place for everything in life. I''ve had a wonderful cricket career and enjoyed my time thoroughly," Dippenaar said.

"I feel it''s time to move on. My life is bigger than just cricket alone and other aspects in my life have started taking prominence," he added.

Dippenaar expressed hope that his last match will also bring a trophy for the central franchise, Sport 24 reports.

Knights need to beat the Warriors and hope the Cobras and the Titans don''t win their matches to clinch the title.

Dippenaar will, however, continue as a SuperSport commentator and could become involved in coaching batsman individually later on in his career.

"I''ll never be able to totally break away from cricket. Cricket is a mirror-image of life - you sometimes have to endure bumps and bruises. It taught me to focus on the positives to be able to overcome setbacks," Dippenaar added. (ANI)
