Ex Pak greats blasts Butt for announcing Yousuf’s removal after Australia tour

Ex Pak greats blasts Butt for announcing Yousuf’s removal after Australia tourLahore, Jan. 24 : Former Pakistan cricketers have criticised Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt for his statement regarding removing captain Mohammad Yousuf after the ongoing Australia tour.

Former captains Aamer Sohail and Inzamam-ul-Haq said Butt should have waited for the one-day series to get over before announcing making giving such statements.

“Why announce this in the middle of the Australia tour? What’s the urgency?” said Sohail.

“Even if the board thought that Yousuf is not good enough to captain the team, they should have waited till their return,” Inzamam added.

He said Butt’s irresponsible remarks would only add to the team’s trouble in Australia.

“Ever since, the team had gone to New Zealand and Australia, there is total chaos and lack of communication between the team management, selectors and board. This is another example of that lack of communication, which will only contribute to the team’s poor show,” The Daily Times quoted Inzamam, as saying.

Former wicket keeper Moin Khan blasted the PCB chief, saying his statement would deepen the divide in the team and have an adverse effect on the team’s morale.

“He (Yousuf) accepted the captaincy at a time when no one was willing to do it and he has given his best, but it is also true that he lacked the aggression required in Australia to win matches,” Khan said.

“This does not mean that the board should announce that they will change the captain after the Australian tour. It will leave the team further disjointed and dispirited,” he added. (ANI)
