London, Aug. 18 : Pakistan’s ongoing England tour has been marred by mysterious injuries to some of the star performers of the team which hardly has presented any resistance to the hosts, but the ever increasing injury list has raised many eyebrows.

The injury list includes fast bowler Umar Gul and young wicket keeper Zulqernain Haider, who played a gutsy knock of 88 runs in the second innings of the second Test at Edgbaston, however these players were involved in intense practice session ahead of the third Test.

According to the Telegraph, both Gul and Haider, who purportedly are suffering from serious hamstring and finger injuries respectively, were seen practising after a warm up game was washed off due to persistent rains.

“Whatever the truth, what on earth was Haider doing taking balls from the fast bowlers in practice on Friday morning? Surely rest for the throbbing digit might have been better,” the Telegraph’s Steve James’ article said.

“Then there is Umar Gul. Apparently the fast bowler is out of the series. But there he was on Friday running shuttles with the team physio like a sprightly hare. His hamstring looked fine to me,” he wrote.

Smith said that Gul’s injury was a mystery, and added that leg spinner Danish Kaneria’s axing from the squad after the first Test was even more questionable.

“But it is Zulqernain''s loss that is being felt the most by cricket experts and fans alike who had something to cheer about from a gutsy debut performance,” he said.

Stories are also doing rounds that there is a ‘certain lobby'' which is behind Kamran Akmal''s return behind the stumps. (ANI)
