North Yorks (England), Feb 8 : In the latest alcohol-related problem to hit troubled England football legend Paul Gascoigne, he was arrested after getting drunk on a fishing trip and reportedly spent his night in a cell before being questioned on Monday.
According to reports, Gascoigne was handcuffed and carted off when cops allegedly found him bleary eyed and staggering outside a village pizza parlour in North Yorks, England.
Witnesses said the 42-year-old became abusive when challenged about his van blocking an entrance.
“He was so drunk he could hardly stand. He''d clearly had too much to drink,” The Sun revealed a witness, as saying.
“He didn''t want handcuffs on and there was a fracas. Officers put him in a car. He looked old and frail,” the witness added.
Gascoigne has struggled with alcoholism and depression since retiring from the game, and has undergone treatment for bulimia and obsessive compulsive disorder. He has also been involved in a much-publicized row with his ex-wife. (ANI)
