Glazers have done their job well: Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson London, Jul 29 : Launching an astonishing defence of the Glazer family, Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that Manchester United’s unpopular owners “have done their job well.”

Fans campaigned to oust US tycoon Malcolm Glazer and his sons, Avram, Bryan and Joel, who have saddled United with a 717 million pound debt since their takeover in 2005.

Ferguson said: “The debt has come through the club being bought out by an owner. You know very well that no matter which business is bought nowadays, it’s usually bought with debt.”

“Because it’s a football club it seems to attract a different type of negative reporting particularly from some of our fans. When Manchester United Football Club went plc, it was inevitable somebody was going to buy it,” The Sun quoted him, as saying.

“It’s unfair that because a particular family like the Glazers bought it, they should come under criticism when anybody could have bought it. I have to say they’ve done their job well. They support me as manager and they’ve supported the players,” Ferguson said.

“I’ve never been refused when I’ve asked for money for a player so what can I do other than carry on the way we’re doing it. I’ve no complaints,” he added.

Yet the Glazer family remains massively unpopular with the fans. (ANI)
