Lahore, Dec 9: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Director General Javed Miandad will fulfil his new role as the national team's batting consultant with "enthusiasm and passion", team manager Intikhab Alam has said.
"It is good to have him back. He has been given a job and I am sure he will fulfil it with enthusiasm and passion," the Daily Times quoted Intikhab, as saying.
He said that the players could learn a lot from someone as experienced as Miandad.
The national team's training camp, which started on December 8 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, is an important part of preparations for the New Zealand tour, said Intikhab, adding that the focus should be on improving the fielding skills and fine-tuning batting.
He also noted that New Zealand would be under pressure following their recent defeats at the hands of Bangladesh and India, and that this could benefit Pakistan.
"The Kiwis' confidence has clearly been shaken by their recent defeats at the hands of Bangladesh and India and I think this time we have a great opportunity to defeat them on their home soil," the team manager said.
"The Kiwis would be under pressure right now and we must take advantage of it. Our team perhaps has better talent compared to some other teams. But there is a need for them to perform as a unit and do it consistently," he added. (ANI)
