Greg Chappell has no “secrets” about Team India to share with Aussies

Greg ChappellJaipur, Sept 27: Former Aussie cricket great and Indian coach, Greg Chappell has said that he had no secrets about the Indian team, which he could share with the Australian team currently visiting India for a Test series.

He said that he didn’t possess any extra knowledge than what the Aussies already know about Team India. “I don't feel I have any sensitive information, and, secondly, professionalism suggests there are certain things that are not available to the Australians. Anyway, there is nothing I know that they don't know,” The Age quoted Chappell as saying in Jaipur where he accompanying the visiting Australian team. Chappel has been hired to guide the Aussie team during its first leg of the India tour.

Amid rumours that he might act like a “double agent” for the Aussies, Chappell said: “To be quite honest, we haven't discussed the Indian team. The Australians have played against India pretty regularly in recent times. I think they have got enough footage and personal experience with the Indian team to understand what they have to do.”

According to the paper, Cricket Australia (CA) headhunted Chappell to lend a hand on this tour even before he was appointed to lead the Centre of Excellence, using his Rajasthan connections to secure a precious extra week's preparation when the Champions Trophy was cancelled — a show of hospitality which the BCCI and its players are not entirely happy about.

“There's a limit to playing the friendly hosts. This is Australia we're facing. Have they forgotten Sydney? It's a battle and we are giving away battle plans and giving them the advantage gift-wrapped,” the paper quoted an Indian player as telling an Indian English daily. (ANI)
