Homeless Gazza appeals to footie''''s union to bail him out

Homeless Gazza appeals to footie''''s union to bail him outLondon, Feb. 17 : Troubled former England football star Paul Gascoigne has appealed to the footballers’ union to help him find somewhere to live after blowing all his cash.

Gazza, 42, has been rendered homeless, The Daily Star quoted Professional Footballers’ Association chief Gordon Taylor, as saying.

Taylor said the former Spurs ace had come to the PFA as a last resort after blowing his 14-million-pound fortune.

Giving evidence in the Wayne and Coleen Rooney case, Taylor said Gazza was “exploited” by those around him, and is a classic example of a rich football star who was not looked after.

Defending the 3,000 current players and 50,000 past professionals on his books, Taylor told Judge Brendan Hegarty at Manchester’s Civil Justice Centre: “I take exception to the description that players are just cash cows.

“Somebody mentioned, in particular, Paul Gascoigne who has had to come to us as we have to help provide a roof over his head. I feel he could have been better looked after – I am not pointing any fingers here, but he had a good opportunity to provide for his old age,” Taylor said.

Gazza’s problems with drink, mental illness and drugs have been well documented, but this is the first time it has emerged he doesn’t have a place to live. (ANI)
