Jones describes Pak and Oz as new feared teams in world cricket

Jones describes Pak and Oz as new feared teams in world cricket Melbourne, Feb 11 : Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones believes both Australia and Pakistan are the new feared teams in world cricket.

Australia needed new leadership and new faces, while Pakistan had to deal with a spot fixing scandal and lost its captain and best youngsters in the process.

He added that both teams have coped well with the crisis, pointing out that former coach Waqar Younis' guided the team well to recover from the humiliation of the spot-fixing scandal.

He also lauded Misbah ul Haq's contribution as skipper, saying that Pakistan has won nine out of 15 Tests under his captaincy.

Jones also said that Mohsin Khan has performed well as an interim coach if the recent results are anything to go by.

"The chairman, Zaka Ashraf, has said Pakistan wants a qualified coach so it can win the World Cup. So is a 3-0 whitewash of the No. 1 Test team in the world a fluke? Just because Mohsin does not have a piece of paper to say he is qualified as a level-three coach does not mean he cannot do the job. The recent results tell me otherwise," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Jones, as saying.

But he admitted that Pakistan need to have a formidable batting line-up and overcome poor fielding. (ANI)
