Juventus sign keeper ManningerTurin, Italy  - Italian side Juventus have signed Austria goalkeeper Alexander Manninger to act as an understudy to Gianluigi Buffon.

The Serie A club said Tuesday the 31-year-old keeper has signed a four-year contract.

The former Arsenal goalkeeper enjoyed spells in Italy with Fiorentina, Bologna and Torino, and played for Siena until returning to Salzburg at the end of the season, then briefly to Udinese before agreeing to sign for Juventus.

Manninger was in Austria's Euro 2008 but was second choice behind Juergen Macho. (dpa)
