London, May 7: Former England football team manager Kevin Keegan has ruled out chances of him taking up that job again.
Keegan said that he believed the position is more suited to a foreign manager and still regrets taking it on a full-time basis in 1999.
He was in charge until October 2000 – his final match being the 1-0 defeat by Germany in the last game at the old Wembley Stadium.
He even regrets leaving Fulham for the England job.
Keegan said: “I didn’t enjoy it. The fans were horrendous when I was walking off after the Germany game – and fair enough.
The Daily Express quoted him, as saying: “I was disappointed and thought, ‘They got me the job, it’s time to go’. I suppose if I had my time again I would refuse it and stay at Fulham because I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.”
Two-time European Footballer of the Year Keegan, who was speaking in a radio interview, claimed he was handicapped by the lack of English players in the Premier League when he was in charge. (ANI)
