Kirsten's exit will a big loss for India: Akram

Wasim-AkramNew Delhi, Jan 25 :  Legendary fast bowler and former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram said Tuesday that India coach Gary Kirsten's departure after the World Cup will be a big loss for India.

Akram feels that the Indian team should focus on the mega event rather than the coach's imminent exit.

Kirsten joined the team in March 2008 and the guided India to the No. 1 spot in the Test rankings last year.

"Gary's qualities as a player and as a person rubbed off on Team India as they performed well. Dhoni and his men will surely miss him in the dressing room," Akram told Mobile ESPN.

"The management will also have a tough time in trying to find his replacement. But I feel India should concentrate on the World Cup rather than Kirsten. As they say, all good things must come to an end," he said.

Akram feels Kirsten's experience of represented South Africa in 101 Tests has come handy in his coaching style.

"Kirsten is one of the best coaches that I have seen in international cricket. He has a quiet personality and does his job without much fuss. He plays a good part behind the scenes. He has always been a much organised cricketer and we saw that aspect in his coaching as well," he said.(IANS)
