KPS Gill brushes aside his resignation demand

KPS Gill brushes aside his resignation demandNew Delhi, Mar 10 : In the wake of India's unprecedented failure to qualify for the Olympics, under-fire Indian Hockey Fedaration (IHF) chief KPS Gill on Monday renounced the thought of his resignation.

In reaction to demands for his resignation, he said, "I will respond to these things at a later stage."

“We do not have an instant coffee machine to get results instantly. It takes time to regain your position. I would wait for the team to return before deciding the future course of action because that will give a clear idea of what went wrong,” Gill said.

He plans to discuss with the chief coach Joaquim Carvalho and the other support staff to know the exact reasons for the setback before making any statements.

Asked whether the IHF had accepted chief coach Carvalho's resignation, Gill quipped, "I cannot respond to media reports.”

Indian hockey plunged to a new low after the men's team failed to qualify for the Olympics for the first time ever following the defeat against Britain in the final of the qualifying tournament in Santiago, Chile. (ANI)
