London, Feb. 16 : Chelsea football star Frank Lampard says Rio Ferdinand fully deserves his chance to captain England.
Manchester United defender Ferdinand has taken over from John Terry, who lost the armband after having an affair with Wayne Bridge''s ex-girlfriend.
The Sun quoted Lampard, as saying: "John and Rio are both big personalities. The England captain has to be someone vocal in the squad and Rio has always been a popular fella in the dressing room."
"The controversy of the changeover and everything is unfortunate but, now it has changed, Rio deserves it and he will give it a great crack. Wayne Rooney is our best player and he will surely be England captain one day. But it''s a good idea not to burden him while he''s still so young," he added. (ANI)
