Lampard wants Chelsea to salute Mourinho before dumping him out

Frank LampardLondon, Feb 26 : Ace midfielder Frank Lampard wants Chelsea to salute former boss Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge before dumping his team Inter Milan out of the Champions League.

The Blues ace said the Morinho deserves a special reception for his first game back at the club he guided to Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006.

But that does not mean Mourinho can expect any favours when Chelsea look to overturn their 2-1 deficit in the second leg of their Champions League clash with his Inter Milan side on March 16.

“I’m sure Jose will get a fantastic reception. He’s the most successful boss in the club’s history and our fans will want to pay their respects. I’ve seen the warmth and respect that exists on both sides between Jose and Chelsea,” The Sun quoted Lampard, as saying.

“But once the game starts our fans will want us to beat him. The tie is in the balance and it would be naive for us to say we’re favourites. Inter are no mugs and they’ll come to London with a 2-1 lead to defend, which allows them to play on the counter-attack.

“We had a lot of possession and shots in the San Siro on Wednesday but we can’t go too attacking in the return leg as that may suit their style,” he added.

Mourinho, who left Stamford Bridge in September 2007, has no doubt he will be warmly received.

“I expect to be welcomed by the Chelsea fans as they know how much I loved to be there and how much I gave to them. They also know I want Inter to win this match but, if that’s not possible, I’ll want Chelsea to win the Champions League. But normally I’m very lucky at Stamford Bridge,” he said. (ANI)
