Lance Armstrong’s cancer charity renamed as Livestrong Foundation

Lance Armstrong’s cancer charity renamed as Livestrong FoundationLondon, Nov  15  :  Lance Armstrong’s cancer battling charity has dropped disgraced former cycling champ’s name from its title, and it will be now known as the Livestrong Foundation.

The dropping of Armstrong’s name is the latest move by the charity to separate itself from its founder, the Telegraph reported.

The 41-year-old sportsperson was recently stripped of his seven Tour de France titles after the US Anti-doping Agency disclosed evidence that he and his cycling teammates used performance-enhancing drugs.

The name change was approved by the Texas Secretary of State on October 30, Katherine McLane, a spokeswoman for the Foundation, said.

Last week, Armstrong resigned from the Foundation’s board of directors, and he had previously stepped down from chairman’s position.

McLane said that she doesn’t think the move will diminish the Livestrong brand, which they have spent years building up, in part, by raising money for cancer survivor programs.(ANI)
