Colombo, August 23 : Australia could be without a senior selector for the upcoming Sri Lankan Test series if Greg Chappell quits. Cricket Australia chief executive, James Sutherland has now flown to Sri Lanka to resolve the crisis. Sutherland will brief Australian players on the Argus Review, but he is likely to consult Greg Chappell to see whether the dumped selector will stay on for Michael Clarke''s first test series as captain. Chappell has been the selector on duty for the current one-day series, but was due to fly out of the subcontinent on Sunday after a tour match against a Sri Lankan Board XI with Andrew Hilditch. Hilditch has, however, announced he will step down following the recommendations of the Argus Review and has informed Sutherland he will not be going to Sri Lanka, The Daily Telegraph reports. Under the adopted recommendations of the Argus Review, the Test captain and coach will be selectors, but CA first needs to appoint a new five-man selection panel. It was represented that Chappell''s relationship with the players had broken down so badly that he was barred from the dressing room while the team was batting. (ANI)
