London, June 4 : English Premier League champions and one of the richest football clubs in the world, Manchester United, has clinched game's biggest shirt sponsor deal worth 80 million pounds with Aon Corporation.
The deal came as United launched a final, desperate bid to keep Carlos Tevez out of Manchester City's clutches.
United have signed a four-year contract with US insurance giant Aon from the start of the 2010-11 season.
They take over from stricken AIG, who will continue for a year despite needing a 120 billion pounds bailout from the US Government to keep them afloat.
The final 14 million pounds payment owed to United was in doubt, but will now effectively come from American taxpayers, The Sun reports.
United were forced to continue with their logo as kit-maker Nike had already produced next season's strip to be unveiled on next month's Far East tour. But this new agreement is worth six million pound a year more and eclipses the 17 million pounds a year which German giants Bayern Munich get from Deutsche Bank.
Meanwhile, Tevez's owner Kia Joorabchian held a two-hour meeting with chief executive David Gill at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
United, who faced paying 25.5 million pounds for his services, have now put forward another proposal which would see him join them on a permanent basis.
Tevez, 25 on World Cup duty with Argentina, has around seven days to decide, with City having a 32 million pounds deal in place. (ANI)
