Basel (Switzerland), Dec. 8 : Manchester United needs a point in Switzerland tonight to ensure their progress into the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Club coach Alex Ferguson has said that his players will not be brushed aside in Basel as they fight for their Champions League future.
Ferguson believes that having lost only once in four years on their travels in the competition, will see them through the tough task at St Jacob Park.
The Sun quoted Ferguson, as saying: "I think we have to rely on experience in the last few years away from home — that is the record we are taking into the game.
It helps us, there is no question about that and let''s hope it does for this match. He added: "I don''t think that pressure affects us if you look at the number of games these players play in.
They''re involved year in, year out in semi-finals and finals.
This is that situation — this is a big game and a hard one." United were shaken by the Swiss side at Old Trafford back in September.
The Red Devils led 2-0 but Basel hit back to go 3-2 up before a late Ashley Young goal salvaged a point.
Tonight the Swiss must win to go through with the group winners Benfica.
Basel believe they are close to landing the result that will put them through and eject United from the group stages for only the second time since 1994, as they have won 15 of the last 19 games and triumphed in their last nine domestic matches.
But Ferguson said: "We''ve a strong squad, versatile players who can adapt to a lot of different positions, like Ryan Giggs and Darren Fletcher.
We''ve some options. That is the value of having versatile players." (ANI)
