London, Feb 8 : Arsenal striker Theo Walcott insists that Manchester United’s Premier League defeat to Wolverhampton has given his team a boost in the championship title race.
“We’ve gained a point on United, that’s how I’ve looked on it. Wolves did us a favour. When we landed back at Luton from Newcastle, we all put on our phones and had a little check at the United score,” the Sun quoted Walcott, as saying.
“Everybody had grins on their faces. It changed our mood and the manager’s mood as well. It’s a point gained,” he added.
The 21-year-old is also confident that Arsenal can overhaul United’s lead in the league points’ table.
“It is looking good. We are only four points behind United and they’ve got to play Chelsea twice. I know we don’t want to rely on other teams, but as long as we keep on winning and getting those points it is going to be a good end to the season,” Walcott said.
Arsenal is currently in the second spot in the points’ table with 50 points from 25 games, while United has 54 points from 25 games. (ANI)
