London, June 9: Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson has taken his summer spending spree to 35 million pounds by signing Blackburn''s Phil Jones for 16.5 million pounds.
Jones, 19, had a medical at Carrington yesterday after agreeing a five-year deal initially worth 40,000 pounds a week.
Fergie snatched the defender from under Liverpool''s nose.
According to The Sun, he already has an 18.3 million deal for Atletico Madrid From Back Page keeper David De Gea, 20, in the bag and is close to sealing a 20 million pound move for Aston Villa''s Ashley Young.
