London, July 9: Manchester City has stunned the football world with the biggest single sports sponsorship payout ever.
According to The Sun, the club has combined a stadium naming rights deal with a shirt sponsorship contract with Etihad Airways worth up to 400 million pounds over 10 years.
"This is one of the most important arrangements in the history of world football," Manchester City chief executive Garry Cook said.
As part of the deal, the club's Eastlands stadium will now be called the Etihad Stadium.
Etihad Airways' s payout will dwarf Nike's shirt sponsorship of Manchester United, which is worth 303 million pounds over 13 years. (ANI)
