Mancini’s make or break meeting on Man City’s future

Mancini’s make or break meeting on Man City’s future London, May 25 : Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has flown to Abu Dhabi to speak to chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak amid a breakdown in relations at the club.

Mancini’s relationship with the club’s chief executive Garry Cook and football administrator Brian Marwood has grown increasingly tense.

He is increasingly fearful the club could miss a huge chance to build on the success of their FA Cup victory and push for the title next season.

Mancini believes neither of them share his vision for what is needed in the summer transfer market to be successful in the Champions League and go for the Premier League next season, The Sun reports.

Mancini wants the club to adhere to financial fair play guidelines and believes they should spend now then get players out to reduce the wage bill and bring some cash back in.

He has a list of five top-quality players, which could cost the club in the region of 120 million pounds, topped by Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas with Udinese striker Alexis Sanchez next.

Mancini insists the club must move quickly to get their targets or may end up like Tottenham, who this season enjoyed a good Champions League campaign at the expense of their Premier League ambitions.

Mancini made it clear last week what could happen if they do not spend again this summer.

“Look at Manchester United. They can play 11 men in a Champions League semi-final and then change nearly all those players for the league game. We don’t want to be like Tottenham who put all their energy into the Champions League and, after that, lost points in the league,” he said. (ANI)
