Mayweather''s dirty win prompts 80-year-old journalist to say he’d kick his a** if younger

Mayweather''s dirty win prompts 80-year-old journalist to say he’d kick his a** if youngerLas Vegas (US0, Sep. 19 : American Boxer Floyd Mayweather sparked fury last night after he claimed a world title fight by knocking out opponent Victor Ortiz while his guard was down.

His controversial win in the WBC welterweight title bout in Las Vegas even prompted veteran HBO anchor Larry Merchant to tell the victorious American: ''if I was younger I''d kick your a**''.

The Daily Mail quoted Merchant, 80, as hitting out at the boxer, who seconds before the controversial punch had been head-butted by Ortiz, after the Mayweather raged: ''You never give me a fair shake. You don''t know s*** about boxing.''

Ortiz did not have his hands up when Floyd Mayweather launched his attack

The argument inside the ring began when Merchant pointed out that Mayweather''s 24-year-old opponent had his guard down because he may have been trying to apologise.

But Mayweather insisted: ''I got hit by a dirty shot. The rule is protect yourself at all time. We are not here to cry and complain about what he did or I did dirty.''

Merchant replied: ''I wish I was 50 years younger and I''d kick your a**.'' (ANI)
