Maria Enzersdorf, Austria - Christian Panucci limped off the training field with an apparent right knee injury as more defensive agony loomed for world champions Italy ahead of Euro 2008.
Panucci's mishap, which seemingly occurred during sprints without another player involved, came four days after captain Fabio Cannavaro ruptured ankle ligaments which sidelined him for the June 7-29 Euro in Austria and Switzerland.
Details of the injury were not available immediately.
Panucci is a regular right back in the Italian team but can also play on the central position normally occupied by Cannavaro.
Italy plays its first Euro match on Monday against the Netherlands, with World Cup finalists France and Romania the other opponents in tough group C. (dpa)
