Spain's Rafael Nadal has managed to close the gap on Roger Federer at the top of the ATP men's tennis rankings released on Monday.
Nadal beat the Swiss in the final of the Hamburg Masters on Sunday and is now 1,090 points behind Federer, who has topped the rankings for 223 consecutive weeks.
Serbian Novak Djokovic, who missed out on an opportunity to go second when he was beaten by Nadal in the semi-finals in Hamburg, remains in third place.
The top ten places remained unchanged.
