New Delhi, Aug 10 : Following the uproar over non-completion of Commonwealth Games venues, top Organising Committee officials are visiting the various stadiums to check the facilities.
The Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (CGOC) vice-chairman Randhir Singh and secretary general Lalit Bhanot visited the Jawaharal Nehru Stadium, Talkatora Stadium, National Stadium, and S.P. Mukherjee swimming complex in the last two days and seemed satisfied with the facilities.
They are scheduled to visit the remaining venues during the week.
"Everything is in order and the overlays work has begun. We are satisfied with the pace of work. Within a week everything will be in place," Randhir Singh told IANS.
Bhanot told reporters at the National Stadium Tuesday that the overlays and finishing work are going on simultaneously and will be completed by the end of this month.
There is an uproar over the venues not being ready and over the quality of the work at various stadiums.
OC has already shifted venue operations team into various stadiums for the overlays. The venues will be formally taken over only after getting the necessary clearances like safety of the building, fire certificate, and power certificate from the venue owners. (IANS)
