Athens - Otto Rehhagel will remain Greece coach despite an early exit from Euro 2008 and complete his contract until 2010, Greek football federation (EPO) chief Vassilis Gagatsis told the sport. gr internet sports site on Tuesday.
"We will continue together (with Rehhagel)," said Gagatsis.
Rehhagel sensationally led Greece to the Euro 2004 title but the team is now out of the 2008 edition after defeats against Sweden and Russia. The final match is Wednesday against Spain.
Gagatsis said that Greece's main aim was to qualify for big tournaments, a goal that was achieved for Euro 2008. He said it was too easy to simply sack the coach because the team needed trust and continuity.
Greece's next task is the qualifying round for the 2010 World Cup in Spain which starts in autumn. (dpa)
