Islamabad, Jan. 27 : Pakistan National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Sports has asked Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Director General Javed Miandad to appear before it on February 3 and explain the ‘hurdles and obstacles’ he is facing in running the board properly.
“The committee has learnt that Miandad is being sidelined in the board and hurdles are being created to stop him for performing his duties. The committee has directed him to attend the February 3 meeting and provide details,” The Daily Times quoted sources, as saying.
Tension has been brewing up in the PCB, and last week it took an ugly turn when Miandad reprimanded chairman Ijaz Butt for disclosing his salary.
Butt had said that Miandad was drawing a whopping million rupees as salary from the PCB.
Miandad had refuted such claims, asking Butt to back his statement with substantial evidence.
“The chairman should not disclose even my original salary under any code of ethics. But to set the record straight, I want to say I am getting a net salary of 570,000 rupees after tax deduction. Prove me wrong if I have drawn one million rupees in any of the previous months with the PCB as director general,” he had said. (ANI)
