London - After completing the signing of Finland midfielder Teemu Tainio, Sunderland expect to land his former Tottenham team-mate Pascal Chimbonda Thursday.
Manager Roy Keane has agreed fees totalling 23 million pounds (46 million dollars) for four Spurs players, with Chimbonda set to finalise personal terms Thursday, and Steed Malbranque and Younes Kaboul likely to follow over the next few days.
Taiuio is Sunderland's first signing of the summer and his arrival could pave the way for midfielder Dean Whitehead to leave for Stoke City.
"I'm delighted to sign a player of Teemu's experience and quality, he'll be a valuable addition to our squad," Keane told the club website.
"Teemu has showed versatility, playing in different midfield positions for both Tottenham and his previous club, Auxerre.
"But his experience in particular and the fact he has played more than 40 international games shows he has a lot to offer Sunderland."
