Lahore, April 14 : Pakistan cricket coach Waqar Younis has expressed his disapproval over the way the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been trying to persuade former captain Javed Miandad to take up the batting coach assignment.
Miandad, who was approached by Pakistan's limited-overs captain Shahid Afridi and PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt to take up the assignment, has turned down the offer.
"I don't know why we go round and round and come back to Miandad every time," The News quoted Waqar, as saying.
"If Miandad doesn't want to do the job, then we must ask someone else for help because it's not an issue of technique of the batsmen, its an issue of slight adjustment," he added.
According to a report, Miandad had initially shown interest in becoming Pakistan's batting coach, sources said, but wanted more authority than head coach Waqar, which the board did not agree to.
Waqar also called for reviving Indo-Pak cricket series, saying that it would not only serve the cause of cricket in the sub-continent, but the entire cricket world.
"Whenever Pakistan and India play at any venue it is always a super game and Pak-India series is of greater importance due to the interest of people across the globe," the coach said. (ANI)
