London, Feb 11 : In-form Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie has rubbished a report published in a Madrid-based newspaper, Marca that claimed that Persie wanted to play for Real Madrid, but Arsenal is not letting that happen.
The Dutch striker used his Twitter account to quash rumors of his desire to play for the Los Blancos.
"Contrary to reports in Spain, I have NEVER spoken to Marca newspaper and never gave any interview. Enjoy your day," The Sun quoted Persie's tweet.
The Marca had run a front-page story that the striker wanted to join Real but, that Arsenal would not negotiate.
These reports infuriated Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger so much that he slammed the Spanish media for trying to unsettle his star striker, who is in terrific form this year.
"What do you think the answer would be? Barcelona knows that they have a difficult job with us always," said Wenger.
"They are very creative. They''ve created another story. They don''t care at all. They just create stories," he added. (ANI)
