Rafa to rest for few weeks after Australian Open

Rafa to rest for few weeks after Australian OpenLondon, Dec 30 : World number 2 Rafael Nadal has decided to take a month off after the Australian Open due to the recurrence of a shoulder injury.

He said that he had this problem since the ATP World Tour Finals in November, but he wasn't too sure about it. In fact, he decided to defend his title at the World Tennis Championships, a two-day exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi, only three days prior to it, The Telegraph reports.

"I had a problem before London with my shoulder and I had to stop for about 10 days before the ATP finals. It felt better but again it resurfaced. In December, I did not have enough time to practice because of that", he said.

He will play the winner of the match between Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and David Ferrer in the semi-finals on Friday in an attempt to complete a hat trick at this tournament.

After playing this tournament, Nadal will play at the Qatar Open at Doha next week and hopes that his injury won't cause him much trouble.

He will than play the Australian Open and will then eventually take a lay-off of a month to heal its injured shoulders and practice. (ANI)
