Railways bag Ruia Gold Cup for National BridgeChennai, Dec 10 :  Indian Railways "A" from Bengal regained the Ruia Gold Cup while Vijay Devadasa and R. Venkatesh bagged the Holkar Cup Pairs title on the concluding day of the 53rd Krishnapatnam Port Winter National Bridge Championship here Saturday.

Railways "A", represented by veteran Manas Mukherjee, Subir Mazumdar, Sumit Mukherjee, AN Mazumdar, S. Dutta and D. Mazumdar peaked at the right time to score a total of 142 International Match Points (IMPs) to outplay Manyawar from Maharshtra (Sunit Choksi, Raju Tolani, Ajay Khare, Rajesh Dalal, Jaggy Shivdasani) who scored 111 IMPs.

Beside the Gold Cup, Railways "A" were richer by Rs. 1,20,000 while Manyawar received Rs. 60,000. Shree Cement from Rajasthan and Poddar Developers from Maharshtra, the two losing semi-finalists, were also awarded Rs. 18,000 each.

Earlier, in the semi-finals, Railways beat Shree Cement by 136-102 IMPs and Manyawar defeated Poddar Developers 130-84 IMPs.

In the Holkar Pairs event, Devdasa and Venkatesh, who earned 401.80 Match Points while second placed Sankar Acharya and Samir Basak had 400.06 MPs followed by NR Kirubakaramoorthy and Uttam Gupta (397.43 MPs).(IANS)
