Ramiz says 99% of Pak cricketers in favour of foreign cricket coach

Ramiz says 99% of Pak cricketers in favour of foreign cricket coach Lahore, Jan 5 : Former captain Ramiz Raja has backed the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) view of hiring a foreign coach, adding that a majority of cricketers are in favour of such a move.

Ramiz is a member of PCB coach-hunt committee, which is tasked with shortlisting candidates for the national coach's post.

"If you have a vote in the team, 99 per cent will back the appointment of a foreigner as coach. The PCB wants the best in the business and I don't think Dav Whatmore will be a bad choice," The Express Tribune quoted Ramiz, as saying.

"I don't think the players are against his appointment so the PCB won't have any issues with that," he added.

He also backed Pakistan to defeat England in the upcoming `nail-biter' series.

"It will be a good series and the matches will be very tight since both teams are evenly contested. Pakistan stand a good chance against England and I don't think they will fall into pieces against the better-ranked side," Ramiz said.

He also advised the team to continue winning titles to silence its critics and keep controversies behind them.

"Controversies happen in a series and they have been happening for a long time. The only way to stop them taking over - as well as the English media - is to keep winning," he said. (ANI)
