Ranji Trophy: Tamil Nadu left in lurch as play washed out

Chennai, Dec 17 : Tamil Nadu were again left in the lurch after the third day's play in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group A cricket match against Gujarat was abandoned due to inclement weather with the hosts still 16 runs short of taking the first innings lead.
Replying to Gujarat's first innings tally of 173 all out, Tamil Nadu were 158 for three at stumps on the second day, but no play was possible Friday following overnight rains and spells of showers throughout the day.
Tamil Nadu require every point from their last league fixture if they hope to qualify for the quarter-finals. They are currently on 14, with three other teams in the reckoning.(IANS)
