Rogge: up to 40 doping cases possible at Beijing Olympics

Brussels - Up to 40 athletes could fail doping tests at the Beijing Olympics next month, International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge said in an interview published on Saturday.
"You can expect 30-40 positive cases based on the number of doping tests," Rogge told the De Standaard daily from his native Belgium. Read more »
European Parliament opposes FIFA plans to limit foreign players

Brussels - The European Parliament on Thursday called on governments and sports associations to bloc FIFA plans aimed at promoting the use of home-grown players by football clubs.
In a report approved by the assembly, MEPs said FIFA's so-called 6+5 rule would discriminate players on the basis of their nationality.
Instead, lawmakers said they preferred measures designed to favour the use of a minimum number of locally-trained players. Read more »

Brussels - The injury worries continues for fragile world number one Justine Henin, who has withdrawn from next week's WTA green clay event in Charleston with more knee problems.
The Belgian limped out in a 6-2, 6-0 quarter-final loss to Serena Williams last week in Miami and has been saying that the knee which has bothered her for weeks is still not at 100 per cent. Read more »
