Montevideo - Uruguay thrashed Peru 6-0 Tuesday in Montevideo to build up its hopes of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Striker Diego Forlan scored a hat-trick with goals in the eighth minute, from the penalty spot in the 37th minute and a header in the 56th minute. Forward Carlos Bueno added a brace in the 61st and the 68th minute, while the veteran Sebastian Abreu scored Uruguay's sixth goal in the 89th minute.

Peru played with 10 men from the 37th minute, after Paolo Guerrero was sent off for bringing down Carlos Godin in the box.  Read more »
