Report: Rowdy German football fans catch Danish police off guard

Copenhagen - A group of rowdy football fans supporting German team Hansa Rostock caught Danish police off guard Saturday, reports said.
The fans had travelled from Germany to watch Hansa Rostock play a friendly against Naestved BK, a town in southern Zealand.
The online edition of local newspaper Folketidende reported that some of the 250 Hansa Rostock fans stole beer from a shop at a train station in the town of Nykobing Falster on their way to Naestved.
Flag poles were vandalized in the town of Gedser.
Local police said they had not had advance warning of possible trouble but have called in back up from Copenhagen to ensure better order when the fans leave for Germany. (dpa)
