Munich - France playmaker Franck Ribery on Thursday underwent surgery on a ruptured tendon above his ankle which will see him sidelined for around two months.
Ribery's German club Bayern Munich said the operation went "perfectly" and that Ribery would go on holiday after being released from a Munich clinic in a few days time.
Ribery sustained the injury on Tuesday night during France's 2-0 defeat against Italy at Euro 2008 which eliminated France from the tournament. There was initial fear that Ribery had fractured his lower leg.
The midfield star could miss the start of the Bundesliga season in August due to the injury but is expected back when Munich start their European Champions League campaign in September. (dpa)
