Madrid - Liverpool are on the point of signing midfielder Albert Riera from Espanyol, according to media reports in Spain and England on Tuesday.
According to Madrid sports daily Marca, Liverpool are prepared to pay up to 12 million euros (17.71 million dollars) for the left-sided Riera, who has already tasted Premier League action with Manchester City three years ago.
However, rival daily AS claims that the fee will be around 9 million euros.
Riera was unlucky not to be part of the Spain squad that triumphed at Euro 2008, after playing in most of the qualifying games.
Another England-Spain deal about to go through is the loan of striker Nery Castillo from Manchester City to Seville club Betis.
In addition, Chelsea are said to be poised to sign Brazilian winger Robinho from Spanish champions Real Madrid. (dpa)
