London, Mar. 31 : Portuguese and Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo believes the Champions League holds the key to him being named the world's greatest soccer player.
Ronaldo’s phenomenal season as the club's record-breaking goal scorer has given the team the chance to become champions of both England and Europe.
The enticing prospect of that double triumph is a major driving force for Ronaldo — but recognition as the best footballer on the planet has almost become his obsession, The Sun reports.
He was voted third behind Brazil's Kaka and Argentina's Lionel Messi in the last FIFA poll, but his headline-grabbing performances in the Premier League and Champions League this season has drawn the global spotlight towards the Portuguese winger.
And if he can help United to win the European Cup in May, the prize he cherishes most could at last be his.
