Rooney’s former management drops four million pound claim

Rooney’s former management drops four million pound claimLondon, Feb. 19 : England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney's former management company has dropped a four million pound claim amid dramatic scenes in his court case.

The 13th day of the hearing proved lucky for the 24-year-old England ace as Proactive Sports Management withdrew their claim for damages against him and his wife Coleen, 23.

But, according to the Daily Mail, they still want a further 4.3 million pounds in unpaid bills from the couple and continue to pursue that action.

As the Rooneys' manager Paul Stretford looked on in astonishment, Proactive's QC Ian Mill told Judge Brendan Hegarty QC at the city's Mercantile Court: "Whatever your Lordship may find, we will not be seeking on any assessment of damages."

In addition to the 4.3 million pound sought, the firm's decision leaves a sum of 500,000-pounds, which is being claimed for termination of the eight-year contract.

Wayne originally signed the deal in July 2002 when he was 16 but decided to stick with Stretford when he left the firm.

The hearing continues. (ANI)
