Ahmedabad, March 16 - Virender Sehwag struck a whirlwind 75 as Delhi Daredevils won their second consecutive match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) beating Rajasthan Royals by six wickets here Monday.
Sehwag's 34-ball 75 helped Daredevils achieve the target of 142 in 17.1 overs by losing four wickets at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera here Monday. For the Royals it was their second loss on the trot.
Daredevils' bowlers did well to restrict Rajasthan Royals to 141 for six in 20 overs, after skipper Gautam Gambhir won the toss.
While chasing, Gambhir (9) departed early but Sehwag tore apart the Royals bowling attack with his powerful stroke-play on both sides of the wicket. Sehwag hit five sixes and eight fours during his stay and was also adjudged as the Man of the Match.
Dinesh Karthik (23 not out) and Mithun Manhas (11 not out) saw the Daredevils home with their 28-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
For Royals, 2008 champions, Dimitri Mascarenhas was the most successful bowler and he picked up two for 31.
Earlier in the day, Abhishek Jhunjhunwala, who had joined the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), scored an impressive unbeaten 53 off 45 balls as Royals posted a competitive total on board.
Abhishek and Paras Dogra (29) with their 60-run stand for the fifth wicket bailed out the Royals from a precarious 50 for four. (IANS)
