Lahore, Jan 31 : Pakistan batsman Shahzaib Hasan, who was a member of the 2009 Twenty20 World Cup winning squad, has said that he is disappointed and surprised at being left out of the national squad for the upcoming World Cup.
“I was really disappointed, shocked and surprised that I never even made it into the list of 30 players initially announced by the selectors. I’ve been picked for one-dayers recently and also for Twenty20 matches and then to be dropped like this entirely from the list of 30 players was a huge shock,” PakPassion. net quoted Hasan, as saying.
“I was hoping that I would get another chance to be a World Cup winner at next month’s World Cup,” he added.
The 21-year-old further said that none of the selectors have explained the reason behind his omission.
“It’s difficult to understand what’s going on, but I have to make sure that I don’t let these things get me down. I’m looking forward to playing some domestic cricket when the chance arises and to respond to the selectors with my bat doing the talking for me,” Hasan said.
“In addition I’m hoping to get a chance to play some club cricket overseas if given if the opportunity and to get some experience overseas in unfamiliar conditions,” he added. (ANI)
