Rotterdam- Spain crushed world champion Germany 3-0 on Saturday to earn a place in the final of the elite field hockey Champions Trophy tournament.
Pol Amat shocked the Germans with the opening goal just 10 seconds into the match. David Alverde and Santi Freixa wrapping up matters within two minutes in the 40th and 42nd.
Spain will contest the Sunday final against Australia or Argentina, as its win ended the hopes of host Netherlands.
Spain and Argentina have 10 points each, but Australia (seven) can move ahead of Argentina on goal difference with a victory of any kind against the Dutch (six) in the final group stage match.
The Dutch will play for third place against Australia or Argentina.
Germany, the defending champions and record nine-time winners, have four points and will play South Korea (zero) for fifth place Sunday.
The two top teams contest the final. Spain won the Champions Trophy in 2004, Australia have eight titles while Argentina have not lifted the trophy yet.
The six-nation Champions Trophy is a prestigious event which this year serves as the last big buildup for the August 8-24 Olympics in Beijing. Argentina is the only team of the six which is not qualified for the Olympics. (dpa)
