London - Stoke City completed the signing of forward Tuncay Sanli from Middlesbrough on Friday, while Sunderland picked up Ghana international John Mensah on loan.
Tuncay, who joined for a 5-million-pound (8.1-million-dollar) fee, follows defender Robert Huth from Middlesbrough to Stoke.
"Tuncay is an exciting player with his pace and skill who will certainly get the crowd going," said manager Tony Pulis. "He is also a player of international calibre and a leader of his national team."
Mensah is Sunderland's sixth signing of the summer, and joins on a season-long deal from Lyon.
"It's like a dream come true for me because it's not easy to play in England," he was quoted as saying on the club website. "I want to tell my fans that they should not expect magic from me, but that I will be giving my best.
"I have a lot of experience from Italy and Europe, while I have played a lot of games for my country and competed in the World Cup and the African Nations Cup.
"Because of this it is not difficult for me to play in England. Now I hope I can do well here in Sunderland and I will listen and do whatever the coach tells me to do." (dpa)
