Washington : In the final three minutes of last night's Super Bowl, a new Twitter record was set for the highest amount of tweets sent per second during a sports match.
The final 180 seconds of the match witnessed the sending of an average of 10,000 tweets per second, The Telegraph reports.
The previous highest number of tweets posted a second in a sports match was during the Women's football World Cup final last year, between Japan and America.
The match that ended in a nail-biting penalty shoot-out, helped set a new Twitter record, with 7,196 tweets published per second.
The all-time record for the most tweets sent a second happened in Japan during the premiere of the Japanese movie, `Castles in the Sky' last December. A whopping 25,088 tweets were posted a second during the film's debut. (ANI)
