London, Mar. 16: The ticket sales for the 2012 London Olympics is going on very well, the organizers have said.
Lord Coe, London 2012 chairman, said: "The reports are good. We went online early hours of the morning, ticket sales have been steady - which is what we wanted - and no reports of anything untoward."
"So, good, so far - let''s keep our fingers crossed," The BBC quoted him as saying.
However, Coe has said that only half of the tickets for the opening ceremony and some major events would be available to the public.
"We''re still working through it but it is probably more likely to be 50 percent for the 100m final or the opening ceremony," he responded when asked what proportion of tickets would be available the for public.
He further said that Olympic ticketing is always controversial and "It''s just not possible to keep everybody happy."
A ballot will decide ticket prices for the public range from 20 pounds to 2,012 pounds and oversubscribed events.
Some events will be free, like the marathon, and 2.5 million tickets will be available for 20 pounds or less.
Others tickets will cost between 30 to 50 pounds. Half a billion pounds is expected to be raised from ticket sales.
The organizers said they have made all possible efforts to avoid the website crashing as people logged on for the first time to buy tickets.
People can also apply for the tickets using an application form. Nearly 6.6 million games tickets are available to the general public through the application process. (ANI)
