Munich - Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni has not recovered in time from a calf muscle injury for the German Cup first-round trip Sunday to Rot-Weiss Erfurt, coach Juergen klinsmann said Thursday.
"The match on Sunday is coming too soon for Luca," Klinsmann said.
The Italy international has been sidelined with a stiff right calf muscle, but is expected to be fit for the August 15 Bundesliga start against SV Hamburg.
Bayern are also without France midfielder Franck Ribery (ankle injury) defender Willy Sagnol (Achilles tendon), midfielder Tim Borowski (knee), defender Martin Demichelis (calf) reserve goalkeeper Hans Joerg Butt (muscle), Argentina midfielder Jose Ernesto Sosa and Brazilian (Olympic duty). (dpa)
